If you didn’t already know that tempers flair and the rivalry is strong between Pennsylvania’s Neshaminy High School and Pennsbury High School, you know it now.
Per City of Basketball Love, a Neshaminy player was called for a charge with around 30 seconds left between the two schools on Tuesday, nullifying a score that could have brought the game within three points. Upset about the call, Neshaminy head coach Jerry Devine was called for a technical foul by a referee nearby. Devine calmly walked towards the ref and viciously head-butted him, sending him tumbling to the floor.

According to them, the 1oth-year coach was then removed from the gym. Neshaminy is scheduled to play another game Wednesday night but it’s unclear at this time whether or not Devine will be allowed to be there or what sanctions he may be facing. It also remains to be seen how badly the referee was harmed.
According to the school’s website, Devine is also a history and algebra teacher with the school. For now, at least.
