Steph Curry and the Warriors have once again blown away the sports world.

A Saturday night overtime win on the road against the Thunder has once again required sports fans to recalibrate their appreciation for the reigning champs and their star player.

In pursuit of the 1995-1996 Chicago Bulls’ regular season wins record (which Vegas now favors them to break), the Warriors opened the post-All-Star Game portion of the season with an extremely trying nine-day, six-game road trip. The journey included a pair of back to back games on the road; involved five games against teams currently making the playoffs; and spanned from Portland to Miami and back.

After stumbling in Portland over a week ago, the Warriors rebounded with five straight hard-earned road wins, culminating in their thrilling win at Oklahoma City.  On Saturday night, Curry broke his own record for most three-pointers in a season (there are still 24 games left?!?!?!), tied the NBA record for most threes in a game, and yes, hit this amazing game-winning shot.

Closing out the road trip, Curry tallied 36, 42, 51, and 46 points while making 5, 6, 10, and 12 three-pointers. Curry’s 12 three-pointers tied an NBA record which you can view below.

Curry now has 288 made three-pointers on the season. That breaks his record from last season of 286. To really get a feel for how ridiculous it is that one of the more prestigious NBA records has been broken with 24 games left, you can try to wrap your head around this image below (click to enlarge).

Wow.

Someone even made the argument that Curry could be considered the league’s most improved player even after a record-breaking MVP season last year.  I’m sure someone is more deserving, but it’s crazy you can even make that argument for the league’s best player.

The Warriors now return home, where they’ll play 17 out of their remaining 24 games. Vegas seems to to think they’ll go 20-4 or better, which is hard to wrap your head around, but that’s been the common theme with the Warriors and Curry the last year-plus. Of all the crazy accomplishments along the way, the Warriors’ ability to demand fans’ and the media’s focus and admiration — from October to what inevitably seems like a June repeat — may just be the biggest accomplishment of all, one that any team will find hard to replicate.
