The dramatization of O.J. Simpson’s murder trial has made for compelling television, but a surprise revelation more than 20 years after Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman were found stabbed to death may further propel the story in today’s news cycle and break the case wide open again.
TMZ reports a construction worker found a folding buck knife on the perimeter of O.J. Simpon’s property “several years ago,” and told a LAPD cop. Instead of reporting the knife for evidence, the cop, who was off-duty and working security for a movie shoot, took the knife home and kept it.

TMZ further reports the knife popped up again not because the cop had a change of heart, but he was going to get it framed and asked a buddy for the case number of O.J.’s old trial to get the frame engraved.
“In late January of this year, after the cop retired from the LAPD, he contacted a friend who worked in LAPD’s Robbery Homicide Division (RHD). The cop told the friend about the knife and said he was getting it framed to put on his wall. He wanted his friend to get the DR (Departmental Record) number for the Nicole Brown Simpson/Ronald Goldman murder case, which he planned on engraving in the frame.”
That’s sickening and selfish to think that a cop sought to showcase the knife like it was some sort of trophy and not possible evidence in a murder. It’s one thing if this was some random idiot who found the knife, but that random person who found the knife did the right thing and gave it to a cop!
According to TMZ the knife is being tested for trace evidence of hair and fingerprints, and will be looked at for DNA and other biological evidence. Cops who saw the knife told TMZ it looked like there may be blood residue on it, although they admitted it was hard to tell as it was rusted and stained. There is nothing pointing the knife, right now, to the murders or directly to Simpson. Still, this revelation is fascinating, especially with how much the case is currently in the spotlight.
Simpson, who is presently in jail, cannot be prosecuted again due to double jeopardy, but the case is open and cops can investigate. The revelation doesn’t mean Simpson is guilty, but the knife may lead to confirming what many long believed.
