United Airlines has apologized to former Denver Broncos running back Terrell Davis after he was handcuffed following an incident between him and a flight attendant.
Davis says that when he tapped a flight attendant’s arm to get his attention during a flight, the flight attendant accused Davis of hitting him. When the plane landed, law enforcement got on board, handcuffed the former NFL player, and removed him.
United has released a statement apologizing to Davis for the incident and has reportedly removed the flight attendant from active duty.
“This is clearly not the kind of travel experience we strive to provide, and we have reached out to Mr. Davis’s team to apologize,” United said in a statement. “We have removed the flight attendant from duty while we closely review this matter.”
Davis said that once he explained to law enforcement what happened, they agreed with him and released him. They also later apologized and determined that the flight attendant was wrong.
Although the airline did apologize to the Hall of Fame running back, Davis let it be known that he would be contacting his lawyers about the incident, so it sounds like this is far from being over.
