There was only one way the total crap Monday Night Football matchup between the 2-8 Cleveland Browns and the 3-7 Baltimore Ravens – with what is the most unlikely and thrilling ending of the 2015 NFL season.
The final two minutes of the game were a roller coaster ride, with Austin Davis having to come off the bench to replace Josh McCown and throwing for the tying score to Travis Benjamin. The only reason Davis was in there in the first place was because of the drama surrounding Johnny Manziel’s demotion to the third string. Ravens backup Matt Schaub then threw what should have been a back-breaking interception in his own territory to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Alas, not even Schaub’s propensity to throw passes to the opposition could overcome Cleveland’s professional sports curse.
With the score tied at 27-27 in the dying seconds, the Ravens blocked a Browns field goal attempt by Travis Coons. It was picked up and returned down the sidelines by Will Hill for the winning score. Here’s Mike Tirico with the great call of the unbelievable play that was straight out of the Georgia Tech-Florida State upset earlier this year…
At least Browns fans can look on the bright side – they’re one step closer to the top pick and Ohio State defensive end Joey Bosa in the “Blow it for Bosa” 2015 NFL Draft campaign.
