during the Barclays Premier League match between Watford and Tottenham Hotspur at Vicarage Road on December 28, 2015 in Watford, England.

What happened at the end of Monday’s match between Watford and Tottenham Hotspur at Vicarage Road was just painful for Hornets fans.

In the 89th minute, 10-man Watford nearly scored off of a corner, which would have given them a 2-1 lead over Spurs. There was no goal call on the pitch, and the referees weren’t buzzed to inform them the ball crossed the goal line.

Look at the goal line technology here – a matter of inches prevented Watford from taking the lead.

Spurs counter-attacked following the non-goal, and Heung-Min Son put Tottenham ahead for the eventual win with this absolutely disgusting mid-air backheel through the legs of Hornets keeper Heurelho Gomes.

(yeah he may have been offside, but it was still incredible)

Here’s another look.

Spurs held on to their 2-1 victory, and moved to third in the table ahead of Manchester City (visiting top of the table Leicester City on Tuesday) on goal differential. The loss leaves Watford in seventh, even on 29 points with sixth place Manchester United and eighth place Stoke City.
